The Only Place With More History is a Library

by Michael Chandler

Miller Total Performance Museum Michael Chandler-1

I’m willing to say that The Miller Total Performance Museum had more racing history per square foot than any other auto museum.  Why?  Because #1 it was tiny, #2 it had one of the Daytona Coupes, #3 it had so many early Cobras, #4 it had Shelby Mustangs galore, and #5 it had one of every generation of GT40, including one of the first cars (ever!) to wear the iconic Gulf Oil livery.

Ford GTs Have Trial By Fire

by Michael Chandler

SEMA-2015-Day-1-Michael-Chandler-CAMautoMag-172.jpg

We were all excited to see how the new Ford GTs would perform at their inaugural race under the stewardship of Chip Ganassi Racing, and… well, they did provide for some interesting moments.  Early in the race the #66 went behind the wall because it was stuck in 6th gear, and the #67 sprouted a leak from the left rear corner.  It was not the best showing, but CGR didn’t pack it in.  They got both cars back out, but both began suffering from gearbox issues.  The #66 finished 7th, and the #67 took 9th.

Return of the 5.0

by Michael Chandler

2011 Mustang GT 5.0

It took a while, but Ford brought back the 5.0.  Instead of being an OHV engine, it returned as a DOHC power plant called Coyote.  All was right with the world again.

Steve McQueen’s GT40

by Michael Chandler

Steve McQueen GT40

Steve McQueen bought it, used it to film Le Mans, then sold it.  It wound up in the Miller Collection years later, and at the museum at Miller Motorsports park.  A legend owned a legend, and I got to bask in its presence.

The Ford GT will be making it’s racing debut at the 24 Hours of Daytona at the end of the month.  We, and plenty of others, got to lay our eyes on one of the cars at SEMA last year in the Ford booth.  Photo: Nicholas Cherpeski

Happy Veteran’s Day

by Michael Chandler

Datsun 260Z RB26DETT

We here at CAM want to say thank you to all of our Veterans for their service.  What better way to show our appreciation than to show off some fine builds from some vets and active duty servicemen?

Clint Stoneham RBZ Test N Tune Michael Chandler CAMautoMag (8 of 10)

Clint Stoneham’s RB powered Z has been featured not once, but twice!

mouse's mustang-1

Mouse’s yellow Mustang is another great build that went one quite a journey before appearing on our slice of the internet.

Galant-1

We’ve known Broderick Jones for a while, and we were ecstatic to be able to feature his unique Galant.

Dan works on jets, and rips around in this Wicked Evo VIII.

Slammed Scion xB CAMAutoMag Jetta Sport Wagen CAMautoMag Michael Chandler 2014 (1 of 10)

Nik Preusser didn’t have to take either of his cars to a different spot when we shot his features.  We shot his Scion xB and his Jetta Sportwagen at the same mill.

Thanks to these five, and to all the veterans out there for serving this great nation.

It rained!  And it got cold!  At least the rain and clouds contributed to some cool photos.  The frigid temps, not so much
