How and Where to Watch The Bathurst 12 Hour

by Michael Chandler

It’s a wonderful weekend that’s upon us!  The LiquiMoly Bathurst 12 Hour is upon us!  Practice sessions are wrapping up, and soon we’ll have qualifying, and then the ridiculousness that is a twelve hour race at Mount Panorama.  A race that starts before sunrise.  On a track that has insanely fast straights, claustrophobia inducing sections, wildlife, and wild ass fans.  It’s so great!!!  AND, unlike so many other races, we can actually watch this here (America) without going through nefarious/dangerous means!  Here’s how, and when.

WHEN

Final practice starts at 2:45PM, followed by qualifying at 4:45PM, and wraps up with the Top Ten Shootout at 9:10.  That’s all happening today, Friday.  Tomorrow is when the real fun starts.  At 11:20AM the race coverage gets underway.

HOW

The important part.  There are a few ways to watch.  Both the Bathhurst 12 Hour and Intercontinental GT Challenge sites have live streaming on them.  Despite not having any cars in the field, NISMO.tv will be streaming the race.  Radio Le Mans will have audio, as is the norm for them.  Live timing is on the Bathurst page and the IGTC page.

TWITTER

Cherp and I will be doing some live commentating on Twitter during the race!  Will it be informative?  Maybe.  Will it be rational?  Probably not.  Will it be fun?  I don’t see why not!  Join us tomorrow!

Ten Years of Marty & Moog

by Michael Chandler

Ten years, 2.5 million subscribers, a book, a Subaute, and over 400 million views later, Marty and Moog went from a couple of guys in Australia to having one of the biggest YouTube channels about cars.  And chopping.  Anyway, they released their season finale/ten year anniversary video.

It’s worth the watch.  Damn near everything on their YouTube page is.  Their videos make me want to grab the rest of the staff, a fistful of GoPros (or in our case, Yi’s), a car of some sort, and go make something.  At its core, it’s a couple of buddies doing car stuff which is what we are at CAM.  At most, it’s series that proves that you can be successful by doing something you love with your friends.

Congratulations on ten years guys, here’s to ten more!

Are You Craving Some Racing?

by Michael Chandler

Pirelli World Challenge Ford GP of Utah Michael Chandler CAMautoMag-169

I missed the F1 race (How about Haas, eh?), and the 24H series race at Silverstone.  I’m not too torn up about it, but I’ve got a hankering for some racing!  Today I listened to some highlights of the Silverstone race on Radio Le Mans, but I want to watch something damnit!  What to do?  Well, there are a number of options available.

The 24H Series has all of their races on their YouTube page, and the fine folks at NISMO have a ton of races on their page as well.  Is DTM more your flavor?  You can watch every race and qualifying session from the 2015 season!  If judged motorsports are more your flavor, you can check out the 2016 D1GP and Formula D events, with English commentary on the D1 stuff by Alexi from Nori Yaro, over on the Scrapeddd YouTube page.

There’s a lot for you to watch, and I’m conveniently showing this to you in the middle of the day… Hmm, I wounder what could ever come of this…

What Are YOU Watching?

by Michael Chandler

Seriously.  I am beyond curious what you folks watch on TV, Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube, Hulu… Porn Hub, whatever you watch.  Normally, I’d expect to be deafened by everyone shouting “Top Gear!” at me, but since we’re between iterations I’m not sure that’s the case anymore.

As I’m writing this, I’m watching an episode of Fast N’ Loud.  Not my favorite show, but not the worst thing to have on in the background.  I’ve also been watching Diesel Brothers, which follows the exploits of the local boys at DieselSellerz.com.  Again, not my favorite but not the worst thing you could be watching.  That might be either version of Street Outlaws.  There is no doubt in my mind that they actually street race, but the product they’re putting out is not that.*

And in the bookcase next to my TV is quite the collection of DVDs.  There are a few old Best Motoring Internationals hanging out, and an ever growing stack of JDM OPTION!s .  While on the subject of sweet media from Japan, I’ve got an external hard drive that contains Initial D in its entirety, as well as a little series called Wangan Midnight and a ton of Maximum Tune.

So what are you guys watching?  Let us know in the comments.

*Street racing/drifting/whatever is also dumb, and illegal.  We don’t condone it, and we don’t want to hear about you doing it.  So, don’t…
